    ANNA MESCHIARI

    Résidence secondaire
    Oct 23 – Nov 22, 2026

    Location
    Display, Zurich

From October 23, 2026, Anna Meschiari will begin the month-long Résidence secondaire, organised by Display in Zurich, to continue her long-term research and further develop her work INT. LONZI EXT., which explores the conceptions and realizations of Italian architect Marta Lonzi (1938–2008).

What thought and action lie behind every architectural form? What means are made available, and what mechanisms, hierarchies, and dominant figures are embedded in architectural conceptions and processes of production? These questions lie at the heart of Marta Lonzi’s work and form the foundation of the Zurich residency. Rather than focusing on the finished architectural object or its canonical figures, Marta Lonzi developed a radical feminist approach grounded in an awareness of the relationships and processes underpinning every act of production.

INT. LONZI EXT. After the consultation of Marta Lonzi’s archives in Milan and an immersion in the “manifesto house” built in 1970 on the island of Elba, a rare site where traces of her architectural thinking are still legible, Anna Meschiari develops a deeper understanding of the relational context in which Lonzi’s writings and projects took shape. She uses her stay in the Zurich residency to develop her film project and open exchanges about dwelling and interior conceptions, archiving and architectural processes. This project follows on from the exhibitions Les dialogueur.euse.x.s, presented at Club 44 in 2024 with Marie DuPasquier, and Les dormeur.euse.x.s, presented at the Mrac Occitanie from October 2025 to March 2026, following a residency at the Villa Medici in Rome.

Anna Meschiari was born in 1987 in Ticino, Switzerland. She has been living and working in Saint-Pierre-de-Trivisy (Tarn, France) since 2014. She graduated from the École supérieure des arts appliqués in Vevey, Switzerland (2014), and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Université Jean Jaurès in Toulouse (2024).

Her projects and publications have recently been presented at Mrac Occitanie in Sérignan (2025–2026), Club 44 in La Chaux-de-Fonds (2024), the Bob Calle Documentation Centre at Carré d’Art – Musée d’art contemporain de Nîmes (2023), the Musée départemental du Textile in Labastide-Rouairoux (2023), Galerie Mercier & Associés in Paris (2025, 2021), Kunsthaus Zürich (2019), Museum der Moderne Salzburg (2019), and Fondazione Ratti in Como (2018), among other venues.

Late 2023, her work was selected for inclusion in the Documents d’artistes Occitanie collection. In 2024, she was awarded the Prix Occitanie – Médicis and undertook a residency at the Académie de France – Villa Médicis in Rome from October 2024 to January 2025. An exhibition resulting from this residency was presented at Mrac Occitanie in Sérignan from October 2025 to March 2026.

Alongside her artistic practice, Anna Meschiari is also involved in fostering critical reflection on and disseminating contemporary art through RIGA, an artist residency and publishing platform that she co-directs.

The residency and the project are supported by the Centre national des arts plastiques and the Région Occitanie. Access to the archives has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the Fondazione Elvira Badaracco, Milan, and Raffaella Poletti, curator of the Marta Lonzi archives.
